I can’t think of a better way to kick off my blog than to write about my experience being chosen as one of the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe 2018! It’s not lost on me how truly special and coveted this award is.
I started Tropic when I was just 13 years old, selling my homemade body scrubs out of jam jars at Greenwich Market to help my mum pay the bills, and today we celebrate over 10,000 Ambassadors being empowered through our social selling opportunity, and a £20 million turnover in 2017. I feel so honoured to be included in the Retail and Ecommerce category for this award, and proud to represent Tropic Skincare within the Forbes community.
A few weeks ago I was invited to a photo shoot with Forbes where I was introduced to the rest of the 30 Under 30 winners, a collection of creative people who are shaking up their industry.
I was lucky enough to meet Erik Gatenholm, co-founder and CEO of CellInk, a company that makes the Bio-X 3D printer with the aim of essentially ‘printing’ organs for research, as well as Gert van Vugt, cofounder of Sustainer Homes, who are making incredible strides towards creating a more eco-friendly building system. I chatted to inspiring founders like Anaïs Barut of DAMAE Medical who are revolutionising skin cancer detection, Oliver Dlouhý of travel booking site Kiwi.com, Jamie Bolding of Jungle Creations who make viral videos for brands, and was of course a little starstruck as I walked past singer and performer Rita Ora who represented the Entertainment category. Being surrounded by so many influential people was enlightening, and I feel so lucky to have had the chance to not only meet them and absorb their game-changing business knowledge, but to be able to take away from this experience and share it with Tropic Skincare’s 10,000+ inspirational Ambassadors who are building their very own business and shaking up the beauty industry with skincare that’s truly good for you.
To have Tropic Skincare recognised in the same league as these amazing companies shows me that people are starting to see the effect that natural, environmentally-friendly personal care products can have on our lives and the earth. It shows me that Tropic is becoming a household name, and we’re only just getting started.
Love, Susie x
